New VR Headsets in 2021

The original Vive Pro was released in 2018 and is still one of the best PC VR headsets on the market. The Vive Pro 2 will bring an upgrade to 5K resolution, 120° horizontal field of view, 120Hz refresh rate, high quality sound & ergonomics, and more features that will keep it on most best headsets lists.

Confirmed as being in the works by a Senior VP at Sony, the next version of Playstation VR has a lot of speculation on what it could have when released in late 2021. A new controller was confirmed, but we expect 4K resolution and haptic controllers along with moving all of the graphics processing out of the headset and onto the Playstation 5.

Built-in face and eye tracking, hand tracking, pass-through camera for mixed reality (XR-3), built-in LIDAR (XR-3), and perhaps the clearest image of any headset on the market. If they decide to remove the required support license they could almost be a contender for consumer VR.

The 200° field of view and up to 180Hz refresh rates on these Pimax headsets are the highest refresh rate and widest FOV of any VR headset currently available. The materials going into the headset are also meant to last for years without breaking or wearing out, so owning them is meant to be an investment in comfortable experiences and long term use.
